Directories with MacLISP relevance are: LISP; -- FASL and binary (dump) files for maclisp system L; -- MIDAS sources for main lisp file, and for others COMLAP; -- COMpiler (with FASLAP) and LAP assembler LSPSRC; -- Various auxillary out-of-core files written in lisp NILCOM; -- Portable LISP system software written in NIL. LSPMAI; -- Bug mail and other notices. Please follow normal reaping courtesies if necessary to reap any of these dirs but LISP;. Please DO NOT delete files from the LISP; directory without consulting JONL, RWK, or RLB. The LISP; directory is referred to by programs which aren't as smart as a GFR. If you absolutely must delete a file, then follow these rules: [a] Do not delete a file which is not backed up. [b] Do not delete a file unless there is more than one version of it around. [c] If there are only two versions, think twice. If you must delete, delete the lower-numbered one. [d] If there are three or more, try to preserve the version for the current LISP as well as the latest version (this usually means deleting the one in the *middle*). Again, before deleting any files consider sending a message to JONL, RWK, or RLB first - usually one of us in in within twelve to eighteen hours. Thanks. Files whose first file name is BBLISP are binary files. The second file name is of the form nnnxxx, where nnn is the three digits of the version number, and xxx is a distinguishing identifier, such as BIB for a Bibop LISP, or QIO for a LISP with the new I/O code. Files whose first file name is LSPTTY contain the output by MIDAS to the tty during an assembly. The second file names are as above. Most other files are source files. Occasional random files are put here also, whose second file names are not numeric (e.g. this file!).
